Picture of O'Connell Bridge in the year 1916, just after the Easter Rising. Several damaged
buildings can be seen in the picture. To the left is the Nelson Pillar, and in the middle of
the left half the statue of Daniel O'Connell.

A photograph showing much the same. Over 500 people were killed during the bombardment
from British gunboats during the Easter rebellion.

O'Connell Bridge facing north towards O'Connell Street, taken around 1910. Here the statue of
Daniel O'Connell "The Liberator" can be seen. He lived 1775-1847 and is known for forcing the British to allow the catholic majority to get higher education and public positions.
