"What the world needs now
is love, sweet love
it's the only thing
that there's just too little of
What the world needs now
is love, sweet love,
no not just for some
but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need
another mountain,
there are mountains
and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans
and rivers enough to cross,
enough to last
'til the end of time.

What the world needs now
is love, sweet love
it's the only thing
that there's just too little of
What the world needs now
is love, sweet love,
no, not just for some
but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need
another meadow
there are cornfields
and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams
and moonbeams enough to shine
oh listen, lord,
if you want to know.

What the world needs now
is love, sweet love
it's the only thing
that there's just too little of
What the world needs now
is love, sweet love,
no, not just for some
but for everyone.

No, not just for some,
oh, but just for everyone."

Both songs were coupled together on the first track of a great LP record made by Tom Clay, and released on the MoWest label in July 1971. MoWest was the (US) west coast branch of the well known MoTown record label.

Tom Clay was a legendary DJ, very aware and concerned with world events which at that time was the long time involvement of US troops in Vietnam, and the civil rights movement.

Tom Clay died in 1995, at age 66.

Listen to Tom, from 15th May 1965.

Lyrics and music by Richard Holler, this song was made around 1968.

"Anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
but it seems the good die young,
but I just looked around and he's gone

Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
but it seems the good die young,
but I just looked around and he's gone

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
but it seems the good die young,
but I just looked around and he's gone

Didn't you love the things they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free.
Someday soon, it's gonna be
one day

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin'
up over the hill,
with Abraham, Martin and John"
